Delay & Reverb Time Calculator

Convert BPM into tempo-synced delay times and reverb pre-delay and decay.

About this tool

The Delay & Reverb Time Calculator turns a track's tempo into precise, tempo-synced effect times. Enter the BPM and it returns a table of delay times in milliseconds for every common note value with dotted and triplet variants, plus the Hz equivalent for tuning LFOs or filters. It also suggests reverb pre-delay and one-, two- and four-bar decay times so your space sits in the groove. Essential for producers and mixing engineers dialling in delay and reverb.

Frequently asked questions

How do I calculate delay time from BPM?

A quarter note in milliseconds equals 60000 divided by the BPM. Shorter notes are fractions of that: an eighth is half, a sixteenth is a quarter, and so on.

What is dotted versus triplet delay?

A dotted note lasts 1.5 times the base note (great for the classic dotted-eighth delay), while a triplet lasts two thirds of it for a busier, swung feel.

How should I set reverb pre-delay to the tempo?

Sync pre-delay to a 1/16 or 1/8 note so the reverb tail starts in time with the groove, keeping the dry source clear. The tool prints both, plus bar-length decay suggestions.
